Default Mic not workong in PT Express

I can't get my microphone to work with Pro Tools Express and my Mbox. Whenever I attempt a voice recording, I get no meter indication that my mic is working. I've checked to make sure the gain and volume settings are where they should be. Any ideas? I'm new to Pro Tools and am trying to record an audio book. I need HEEELP!

Go to the Setup drop down menu and open up the Playback Engine window. Does it show the MBox as the current engine, or does it show a different device? If it's a different device, such as an internal sound card, select the MBox, which will save and reopen your session with the MBox as the interface being used.
