Re: Are you Satisfied with the fast Avid Updates?
My subscription expired end of April and yesterday I got the following email email:
Notice the text below I made bold. That line concerns me greatly - "Critical updates" sounds like bug fixes to me, which seems like they're holding users to ransom. Sounds like insurance company tactics. ___________ Don’t Put New Features on Hold Pro Tools User: We wanted to let you know that your Annual Upgrade Plan for Pro Tools® has expired. What does this mean for you? You now no longer have access to… • Exciting new Pro Tools features coming in the months ahead • Ongoing releases of user-requested ideas and enhancements • Critical updates that deliver better performance and improvements But if you act by the 30th of May, we’ll give you one last chance to renew your Annual Upgrade Plan for just £69 (Ex-VAT). Simply log in to your Avid Account or contact your reseller to renew. After this date, the price to get the latest version of Pro Tools will go up to £199 (Ex-VAT) to reinstate your plan, subject to change. So hurry—your grace period is ending soon! We wish you many more years of creative enjoyment. Thank you, The Avid Team ____________ What about fixes to the bugs in 12.5 that I was entitled to download when my subscription was active?

Re: Are you Satisfied with the fast Avid Updates?
In 6 more days the 30th of May deadline comes
So at the very best you might get 6 days of feedback from folks as to whether 12.5.1 (only the second release - assuming it happens - in 2016!) is the release that answers many users issues... This is just ugly... the "deadline" should really be moved to a significant amount of time after 12.5.1 is released - IMO as always...

Re: Are you Satisfied with the fast Avid Updates?
Avid needs to completely drop the "critical updates" as part of your plan. If your plan runs out and the last update was garbage, they owe that to you for free, regardless of your plan. If you roll out 12.5 and it works terribly, then fix it. Plans are for new features not fixes of your core platform.
Avid, wake up! No seriously, wake up and look at what is happening.

Re: Are you Satisfied with the fast Avid Updates?
This thread is depressing. Fortunately 12.5 hasn't been a complete disaster for me. It's worked fairly well for the most part but I do every once in a while get a random crash out of nowhere; maybe once every two weeks. And after my computer has been on for a while, the Pro Tools GUI pauses for about 2 seconds about once every minute and I have to reboot the whole computer to fix it. Then two days later it happens again. But other than that, I've been able to get work done fairly efficiently.
Another weird anomaly that happened last week is when I went to reopen a session that I was working on the day before, the session would not load at all. It would crash when it started loading the tracks. Other sessions would load fine but this one would not. And I was just working on it the night before. After trying for 30 minutes and cursing at the screen, I decided to try the session in Pro Tools 10. Loaded right up with no problem. Saved the session (CMD + S), closed it and tried it again in 12.5, loaded with no problem. WTF?!

Re: Are you Satisfied with the fast Avid Updates?
This whole thing reeks of the need for a class-action lawsuit.
