Its so disappointing that there is no word from Avid on this matter. Even a "Folks, this is our design approach, thanks for understanding and for your input" would be better than the rude silence.

It is very frustrating indeed. Its unfortunate that we're stuck with have of boards in many ways left in disfunction.

Apart from the S6, we're all left with piss poor response of our rotary knobs.

AVID... Can you please chime in on this issue? One would think Avid might want their products to be as conducive to mixing as possible am I not wrong? Just is so unfortunate.

Develpers use software acceleration to compensate for the lower resolution of cheaper S6/S3 encoders.
I's simply not possible to get a S5- or DFC-feeling with this hardware.

But what is being requested here has already been implemented (at least in some form) on the S6 with it's cheap encoders! The S6 now has adjustments for Speed and Sensitivity. Why can't we have this on the S3

Does anyone know:
Are the S3 / S6 rotarys the same hardware?

Anyone know if the knobs on the s3 and dock are different either with speed or torque? Mine feel really different.

Am getting in early for my New Years wishes, hoping that our beloved S3 Rotary Encoders get some love in 2017.

Best to you all!

no...the solution is not to just get over it and accept what they give us. The solution is to provide the options to adjust per user preference, exactly the way we can adjust the speed of tracking or double clicking a mouse or trackpad. I mean seriously... this should be a pretty obvious setting/option for the developers to think of, but if they didn't know this right away, fine. Maybe they're all new or maybe they're worried about other pressing issues. But take the hint from all the comments and threads about how so many customers are not satisfied with the responsiveness of the knobs. sheesh

I personally wanted this dock for the knobs but was really disappointed in the lack of ability to adjust the feel. I would LOVE for them to work the way native instruments maschine knobs work.
