Default Which version of Windows to buy for PT 12?

Can someone share their opinion on which Windows software to buy, to use for PT 12.5 and Beyond?
Currently been using Windows 7 Ultimate but have recently discovered it was not genuine, therefore stopping me from making some major updates on other Hardware in my system. Since I have to wipe my system, I thought I would ask here which version of Windows seems to be working better than others before I buy? Thanks!

I see no reason to move on from W7. W8 and Vista are worthless. I tried W10, but I didn't see any additional functionality or anything that was easier or better... it just looks different and I can't find anything 'cause they moved things around and renamed them.

I went back to W7 last week.

I know win7 has been great... but seeing that I have to start over, is it wise to stick with win7 instead of moving on to 10? Eventually 7 will be history. Just not sure what percentage of users have gone to win 10. Anyways, I have to start over and purchase new, so just looking at the big picture. So if you had to start over, which would you buy, and which version (Ultimate, Home, etc...).Thanks again.

I looked at the chart for compatibility and it's really not a reference to what REALLY works, it's just a reference to what is "suppose" to work. Just looking for the wisest choice here.

Using Win 10 on PT 12HD. Not on the "officially supported" list, but it works great. I had to make this decision recently, and whereas it was fine on Win 7, going to Win 10 gave me more of a measure of future-proofing.

Well that is what I am leaning towards... but I just wanted to hear it from some users that win 10 is working for them. I know there's going to be issues because it's new but so is PT 12.5, and now 6. Anyways, thanks for sharing. Who else is using Windows 10? Is there a specific version of 10, or is there only 1 version? I've been using win7 Ultimate.
Thanks.

Windows 10 Pro and PT 12.6. No issues other than the fine point adjustment and batch fades "changes" that Avid have acknowledged and will be reverting to original behavior. Threads about both if you look.
