That is theoretically correct.

I got a message saying I didn't have a valid PT8LE install on my system (I had 8.0cs2). So I had to uninstall it, install PT8 & then run the installer. Worked ok then, don't know why, I just know it worked.

Hence the word “theoretically.” Just glad it worked for you.

Installed it over 8.0 CS3 a couple of hours ago then went and played with a couple of sessions, no problems so far, in fact a bug in one of the sessions went away (It always forgot the settings on Waves Solo when first opening, seems fine now).

So I'm cautiously optimistic.

Maybe we need a check box in the prefs for this much like the RTAS Error Supression box in the playback engine dialog.

Just finished my upgrade and checked out a few sessions. I installed over cs3 and it worked fine. For the most part things seem to be ok. I opened sessions that I know had the play/pause issue and they seem to playback fine at low buffer settings (I could usually work around the problem with higher buffer settings) so I'm cautiously optomistic.

Only 2 quirky things have happened so far. I opened a session I knew I was having issues with before. It never opened and hung up while "building edit window". I killed PT, restarted PT (no PC reboot) and then the session opened. Only this time numerous plugins were disabled due to "insufficient system resources". When I tried to manually activate those plugins in I got a DAE error-7400. I closed out, rebooted my PC and then everything worked perfectly fine.

Other than the initial issues with that one session, all other sessions have checked out fine so far.

Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like play?

EDIT: oh wait, that was uncalled for.

Funny I think...

It was a little scary there for a few minutes, but all seems to be working at the moment.

In reading the accompanying readme, I thougt it said to uninstall pt8 first, and then install from the update.. Does this not work?

Also, it said that when opening sessions from earlier versions, it's likely to take a bit of time the first time only because of the change from 8 bit to 16 bit waveforms... Maybe this is the "hanging'" that some are getting?

Good to hear that the PPI may have been fixed.. that will make me want to 'snoopy-dance'.

Peace!
