003 Rack+ losing connection with PT8

I am running a 003 Rack+ with PT8.0.1 and have experienced the interface losing connection during my sessions. This is a new interface that I upgraded from the Mbox2pro and have completed all firmware and software updates. I am running a Mac pro quad 2.66 with dedicated audio sata drives all digi recommended optimizations have been completed. I realize that the mac pro is only FW800 but I am using a FW800 to FW400 converter cable. Is anyone else having this kind of trouble and if so are there any suggestions on how to resolve this?

With Protools 8, many folks have seen this issue when they have incompatible plugins. I'm not saying that this is your problem but it is a common cause. Another common cause is not leaving at least one processor core free to handle non-realtime plugins. For example if you have 4 processor cores, only dedicate 3 for realtime plugins instead of four. If you have 8 processor cores, only dedicate 7 to realtime plugins.
