Default D-Command - Trim Plugin to Focus channel

Hi all!
I'm trying to get my head around this complex console.

Am I able to somehow have a tracks trim plugin "gain" parameter assigned to a fader?
Am I able to do this at the same time as having the tracks regular volume on the fader next to that one?

The reason I want to do this is I'm mixing dialogue and there's a vast dynamic range. I'm maxxing the fader gain often and then going into the gain plugin and automating more gain where I need it.
It would be nice to be able to automate the gain plugin using the fader next to the one I'm riding.

I realise I could make an aux track next to it, but I'm all for less tracks in the session and want to learn more about utilising the D-Command.

Thanks!

In Operations turn on Chan PI (channel plugin mode) and you can have the Gain parameter on an encoder above the fader.

I think we're looking here at a typical scenario of a 'custom fader' setup.
Had to look this up from the manual for D Command. You may want to do the same ... page 122 in the PT8 version of D Command.

Anyhow ... the idea is to have multiple copies of the same channel in that 'custom' group.

In your example you could do with 2 duplicates of the tracks you're automating.

1 fader controls volume ....
1 fader controls the gain parameter of the 'trim' plugin 'flipped' to a fader.

2 adjacent faders doing exactly what you want ...

Hope that helps.

Hey, thanks for the replies!
That sounds like the deal.... how do I get the gain parameter flipped to a fader?
