Problem Syncing Digimax FS with 002 Rack

Hello,

I just got a Digimax FS and am trying to get it synced up with my 002r. I have both optical lines run, and the Digimax is set to External ADAT sync, and it shows the correct sample rate. Yet I get horrible clicks and pops. I tried setting the Digimax to master, but Pro Tools said that there was not a valid external clock and reverted to internal. Any advice on what to try next?

Only ONE lightpipe cable from your Digimax output to 002 ADAT input. Set DigiMax as master.... sample rate no higher than 48k.
Set PT to sync on optical/ADAT.

What if I wanted to use the 002 as the master clock? And can I only have the extra inputs, not the extra outputs? Furthermore, when trying to set the 002 to use Optical for its clock, it either says invalid clock source, or it lets me do it and then loses communication with the hardware every couple of minutes. Thanks!

The 002 HAS to be the SLAVE. It won't work otherwise.

I'm using the FS with a 003 - works great! And trust me... you want the 002 as a slave and the FS as a master - the FS has a much better clock and will improve the sound of the 002 or 003 a lot!

You are not setting the sample rate on your Digimax the same as your PT session. You have to do this manually. Not above 48k either.
Nobody on this forum can help you if you don't give enough information.
