HEY ALL YALL!

i'm still uncertain about how to go about getting a smpte t/c line in my pt sessions.

do i just need to purchase the dv toolkit?

will i then be good to go?

AND!

how will i be able to import quicktime files w/ this toolkit? am i making it to complicated?!

basically,

i need my Voice over talent to record to picture. that's all. i guess i also need a video card for my computer. but i realize that's another forum altogether!!!

If you need a SMTPE timeline, then yes you need DV Toolkit.

You should be able to import a quicktime video already, with the Toolkit I don't think anything changes as far as that goes, or at least not until you get to DV Toolkit2 on PT7.1 which allows for multiple video tracks in one session. If you've considered upgrading to PT7.3 this would be a good time to do so, because if you drop the dough for the original DV Toolkit now, know that it won't work once you get past PT7.1 and you'll need to buy v2 of the Toolkit anyway. (and in case it isn't clear, DVTK2 doesn't work with PTLE 6.7, only the original DVTK would work with that version).

yes, best is to buy DV Toolkit.

Besides that there is some sort of "poor man's workaround" : if you know someone that owns a PT TDM system let him save an empty session with subcounter set to TC. When you open up that session with your LE system the subcounter will show TC. But don't change the subcounter to something elso or you will lose the TC display (cannot bring it back).

Also what could be interesting for you: get a Canopus ADVC110 and you will be able to output your quicktime movie (has to be Quicktime DV codec) via Firewire to a video screen, TV etc...

If you need to insert TC into the quicktime movie: get QT Sync (search in Google).
It's free !
