My pitbull ate my iLOK and the wait is over, will it work?

(On insurance, be cautious, see what requirements the money lenders have for studio gear, they tend to want alarms (WIFI, or dedicated lines to police), etc. And don't expect homeowners to believe you're just a hobbyist. All the laws protecting homeowners go out with the dog. So be cautious re boiler ins. vs fire ins and/or purchase both if in doubt, etc.... so read the fine print.)

In California, Heaven forbid we have another earthquake, homeowner's will not pay for broken pipes (water damage) if you have the extra earthquake coverage. Likewise, if no earthquake coverage they will pay for water damage with no deductible (go figure... earthquake policies include land value in with their deductibles.)

Just check with your home insurance company, see if they offer such insurance. Some do, some don't. When my studio was inside my home, I hade a rider to cover my gear...including replacemnet value of all the licenses on my iLok.
Now that my studio is in a separate building on my property, my home insurance company couldn't insure the contents...just the building itself.
There are several companies out there that specialize in recording studio insurance, and have reps that know gear, etc.
My gear is covered for full replacement value in the event of theft or catastrophic loss.

Thank you ejwells. That was the kind of answer i was searching.

So i have to make sure that not only the iLok itself is covered, but also the licenses on it.

I don't need ZDT but need to have my investments backed up.
That leads to the right way to go. Thanks.

You might want to get ZDT as well. The 14 day replacement licenses come in handy if there's an issue

I just changed insurance providers, and my studio insurance is now around $600.00 per year. That's $1.64 a day.
The building itself is covered for a rebuild value of $80k under my property insurance.
The studio insurance covers everything I need in addition to the building:
$100k worth of gear, $1,000,000.00 liability/injury, electrical failures, viruses, employee dishonesty, care and custody of other's gear, etc.
Covers for full replacement value of loss due to theft or act of God (earthquakes, floods, tornados, runaway trains, lightning, etc.)
I factored my iLok in at around $8k.
In other words...Please steal my iLok

LOL..

When I added up the replacement costs for my stuff for the moving insurance, I was hoping that the train would get swallowed by a sinkhole or something..
