Default Loving it! (Waves plugins success)

Just did a drum mix from my Roland TD-30. Used the waves TG12345. A little noisey but wow they sound great. I mean really great. Used rc tube on vcc but makes me want the NLS for the TG 12345 console. Of course Abby road reverb is the icing on the cake.

I think NLS has TG12345 Mk 4 in it, while AR TG12345 is Mk 1 with some modifications. Anyway, could you elaborate on how you used it on drums? Did you split them to instruments (e.g. snare track, kick track, ....) or just used it on the drum bus?

Thanks!

Turn down the 'analog' knob in both the TG12345 and AR Plates Reverb. Neat that Waves has that but it's also nice it can be turned down. A tip: depending on the routing you're using for the TG if you have the compressor first don't be surprised if you get a slight pop/click on the first note to hit the plugin. Everything thereafter should be clean.

I love the 12345 on acoustic guitar as well. It's a really great plugin.

With most of the Waves plugs I shut the analog off.

I have NLS due to a bundle upgrade but after all these years I still prefer HEAT.

Yeah the Mike emulation is an EMI desk for sure.

Be aware also that not all Anlog switches and dials just do noise. In the case of the API it also activates the “API” harmonics, you know, that very thing that makes an API an API.

On the H-Comp and H-Delay it actually controls the emulation type, even though some emulation types are a bit more noisy than others. Though, that was also true about the real thing.

The noise isn’t identical either, it’s not like they just added a bit of pink noise for the hell of it. Apparently when they were working hard to get an emulation sounding closer to the real thing it seemed that it was lacking something and a little flat. They later figured out that this different noise tonal footprint actually contributed to that “authentic” sound, because not all noises are the same.

Personally I’ve never had much of an issue with the noise feature, almost never had to turn it off. Like other engineers out there including Greg Wells, I like what it does and I’m not afraid to use it providing it doesn’t get out of control.

It can do wonders to vocals too.

Excellent! Thanks for the tip!

I really think Waves hit it out of the park with the Abbey Road plugins. So useful!

All drums went through the individual outs to audio channels. No VSTs. I did get the NLS with studio rack. I also have the j37 and Kramer tape. The studio rack is cool. I insert, call up a save preset and it loads up the tape, NLS and TG with presets for the instrument for a great starting mix in less than ten minutes. I need set up some presets for the neve, api, ssl and Kramer 73 with pie compressor.

And I knew that they were not the same consoles but still match in flavor versus the VCC RC tube. I just loving Pro Tools with the really cool board emulations. I think it’s great time to record. I have always known boards and equipment have their sound that imparts character. Although I have been in a few commercial studios recording, I never got to play with the huge favorites. These plugs lets me do that. I don’t try to get hung up on if they sound like originals. The plugs themselves are originals if you know what I mean.

I do like the flavor of the TG 12345 a lot.

I will try and post the video tonight in general discussions just for a listen.

The analog button adds only hum. There is no analog anything that is added other than noise. That's what Waves tech support told me years ago. It is best to always disengage it unless you want a hum in your audio chain,

It depends what plugin we are talking about. It’s not consistent.
