PT not picking up any signal/not recording
Hello everyone, this is my first post on here and I'm hoping someone might be able to help me out.
I am running into a couple of issues and not sure if they are related. I was trying to record some guitar parts in PT but it's not picking up the guitar signal. The interface is working as I am able to hear the guitar through the headphones and the clip meter on the interface is picking up the signal going through but the meter on PT is not picking anything up. I'm using an audio track and have checked the playback engine and I/O already. Also when the track is record enabled I'm not able to record anything, it doesn't start recording, nothing happens. I also created an instrument track to try and record some MIDI drums but I wasn't able to record that either. I've been searching on this for the past 2 days and found a lot of threads here of similar issues but haven't found anything to help my issue. Maybe I'm too frustrated and it's a super easy fix or saw the answer somewhere and missed it lol. Specs below and if I did the Sandra report incorrectly or have missed any other details I should have included then my apologies and please let me know! Re: PT not picking up any signal/not recording
Are the sample rates the same between PT and your interface? If PT is at say 44.1 but the interface is 48 PT won't start recording anything.

Re: PT not picking up any signal/not recording
One typical newbie goof is trying to record an instrument(like your guitar) to an INSTRUMENT track. Record anything that makes sound outside of PT to an AUDIO track(INSTRUMENT tracks are for VI's(Virtual Instruments, or instrument plugins).
Another easy mistake is not checking to make sure the interface(the Focusrtie box) is the selected "audio engine"(under the Setup>Hardware menu window) I suggest you hit youtube and watch some tutorials on getting started with pro tools
