FAST TRACK PRO problem with digital distortion

Hello! I recently set up PT9 on a new Macbook Pro this week. (2011, i7, 8gb ram, 2.2 ghz, 10.6.8) I'm in the process of learning how everything works still and have come across a problem.

When I try to record using my M-Audio Fast Track Pro, the audio in the mix channel and the recorded playback is distorted. Like a digital distortion, almost like a bit-crush effect. When I turn the mix volume on the interface down I can hear myself fine in the armed audio channel. Everything else is distorted including all of my recordings. I've tried installing the latest drivers several times, and I have no idea what can be causing this. Everything looks to be okay with the I/O configuration, and my FTP works like a charm with Ableton Live 8 on my PC.

Hi, I am having the same problem with the digital distortion on playback but I have a completely different set up. I am running a Mytek Stereo 96 ADC and DAC into the Optical ports on my MacBook pro.
I can only record the distortion by printing the actual playback. It does not print on the way in.
The problem with the digital distortion on playback only started when I updated my OS to the latest 10.6.8.
My next solution is to do a time machine backup and do a clean install off a OS cd and not update to the latest OS.
In any case, please help!!!!!!!

i solved my digital distortion problem with PT9. The problem was OS 10.6.8. i went back to 10.6.5 and everything went back to normal

I experienced distortion after upgrading to 9.0.3. Deleting the prefs and databases resolved the issue.

What version of PT9 are you using?

You can fix it in two ways, first go to system preferences, Fast track pro, and change form 24bit to 16bit. or the second fix, uncheck outputs 3 & 4.

FWIW, the Fast Track Pro has been a total failure with 9, regardless of what driver I try to use. XP with M-Powered 8 was fine, but Windows 7 and 9 have been useless(003 works dandy).
