I have a question can anyone help me?

How do you record two simultaneous tracks at once?

like yesterday I imported a song in the vocals section hoping I can sing along with it..I recorded both of em and for some reason the music I imported is the only thing playing any ideas?

Hi,

I'm not sure what you mean about what you tried before, however you can record to simultaneous tracks as long as your interface has that capability.

Ie. M audio interfaces with this cabability are:

Fast Track Pro
Fast Track C400

I use the C400 and to get two tracks recording at the same time (for example when recording with 2 mics on an amp) you make sure both XLR cables are plugged into the back and that the levels are audible, then on the tracks within protools SE, one should be set to input 'mono 1' and the other 'mono 2'. You will then have the two recording together.

If you want to sing along to a song... you must import the song into a session. Then it's there and you just need to add another audio track, set up your mic and sing along whilst it's recording. You shouldn't need multiple tracks for this at one time.

If I've gone into too much depth and completely missed the point then just let me know!

Also the standard Fast Track base model (with mic and guitar input) should do this.

I don't know if Pro Tools SE allows you to select the bus on the track there's no mixer.
But Pro Tools essentials lets you have that posibility on all tracks with fast track.
