How to route audio (monitors, talkback) using Avid S1
Hi, my Procontrol of 20+ yrs is dying & looking to replace with S1. ProControl has audio routing built in, for monitor switching, talkback & headphones. Unless I'm missing something, not seeing that option with an S1. I'm guessing an external hardware unit like a Mackie Big knob is needed for those functions. Was wondering what audio routing solutions that S1 users were using that I could take advantage of. Thx

What’s your Pro Tools system? Is that 20+ years old as well?
The obvious choice is MTRX or MTRX Studio but that would probably require a bigger upgrade for you. There are software monitoring solutions like Ginger Audio’s Sphere and hardware solutions like Trinnov. So much of this depends on your budget and your current computer and Pro Tools version. |

What interfaces do you have today? Are you after only stereo?
The current high-end and very impressive Avid approach is using Avid MTRX or MTRX Studio interfaces with DADman and the related monitor control and monitor correction features. Controllable from EUCON. |

Use Sphere and the Control App on a tablet to control it with EuCon. You might want to upgrade you interface for multichannel monitoring.

Re: How to route audio (monitors, talkback) using Avid S1
Thx for your replies & input. I'm currently running PTHD 2023 with a HDX card using a Neyrinck app to talk to my ProControl. I'd like to stick to stereo monitoring but use a software app to create immersive mixes via headphones. Not interested in investing in surround speaker system. So Ginger Sphere looks overkill, so maybe the Room app is more my speed. I intend to upgrade to a M1 Mac Studio in next 6 months, so maybe that's a better time to switch over everything at once. My current 8 channel audio interface works fine with my HDX card, so I'm hoping that can stay for awhile.
Is there anything else I need to consider while planning my upgrades? Thx |
