How large are the files especially PT and is it mac or win?

What exactly do you mean with invalid?
Do NOT use the download manager, just download as you would without the manager as others have had problems with that, save to desktop and PT 11 file should be like 1.2 GB or something like it for Windows so start the download and see what will happen without any d/l manager..

No I click download and it says open. I guess it saves to a folder and I open it and click setup but then windows freezes and it says "checking for a solution to the problem" and windows restarts. But in my Ilok it says i have a license available but I dont want to activate if avids not downloaded then it will have been for nothing.

I thought that the installer was a drag and drop file but that was MAC OSX Only just to clarify. Sorry for the confusion.

On Mac it is a single file download that when downloaded to say, desktop you just drag it into application/program folder and PT will install after you dropped the file there and doubleclicking from that folder.. But NOT on PC.

Watch the video I posted below or here as it shows step by step how to install on a PC computer.

Thank You Benoni for the tutorials and hope you don't mind me posting your work here on the forum

EDIT: here is a step by step installation video from one of the Moderators here on the DUC Forum.
Check this out first please as it says exactly how to install both 10.3.6 and PT11 from scratch..

http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WADEKsv...%3DWADEKsvVjfU

When you downloaded the PT file, what was the extension? Is it a zip file? What does it say when you open that file on the place you download it to?
Is it one file when extracted or does it have a .exe installer inside?
Do you have PT10 and version 10.3.6 installed aswell?

Ok, I have a new folder on my desktop with a file in it that says pro tools. I click on it. Inside that it says

codec installers
Documentation
Driver Installers
Licenses
Setup

I click setup but the "folder" window freezes and says not responding. I guess my computer is slow.

Pro Tools 11 (1.43 GB)

Plug-Ins and sounds (2.6 GB)
