Linking second 192 I/O problem
Just got a HD Native system and two 192 I/O's and am new to the HD world. So, I'll probably be posting several stupid questions this week, but here's my current problem. I'm running two 192 I/O's. I have two 192 I/O's and the Avid Rep said I could do the standard connection for it which I have done (Digilink to Digilink mini from primary port of the main 192 to the Hd native card, digilink from expansion port of main 192 to primary port of the slave 192, and then the word clock BNC cables in and out between the two). I've done all this and Pro Tools won't recognize the second 192 anywhere. I've gone over the manuals a thousand times as well as checked everywhere I could online and I've gone into peripheral setup, session setup, peripheral setup, hardware setup etc. etc. and it doesn't show up anywhere. Nowhere to loop it or even identify it. I've hit identify and only the master I/O lights up as well. The manual said you could also setup the 2nd I/O to the second port of the card, but that would require another digilink to digilink mini cable (which I don't have). What am I doing wrong? Or is linking the second I/O to the second port really should be done? And How does the clock sync if so?

Re: Linking second 192 I/O problem
No one has any solutions for me??? I've installed all the drivers and even talked to an Avid Rep who said "I've never actually linked two 192's together". Someone's gotta know something. This thing will not show up in my peripherals list no matter what I do.

Re: Linking second 192 I/O problem
The second 192 should show up as a sub entry to the primary in the hardware setup. I would swap the two and see what difference that makes. Make the secondary the primary and the primary the secondary. If nothing shows up, I would suspect the 192 itself. If you get a primary but no secondary again, I would suspect the link cable.
Other than that, make sure you're using the loop sync jacks and not the word jacks for connecting clocks.

Re: Linking second 192 I/O problem
It shows as the primary. Might be the cable! Thanks guys, I'll keep at it.
