Default Picture this...

A guy (or team of guys) spend huge amounts of time researching and developing a new product that has the capability to blow thier competitors out of the water. They announce an official release date and circulate pre-release information to thier dealers asking that it remain confidential until said date.

SOMEBODY, in what appears to be an opportunity for 15mins of glory jumps the gun by 5 days and splatters not only the rough concepts, but WORD FOR WORD from the info kit on the user forum for everyone in the world to see!!!

No wonder the guys at Digidesign are upset!!!!

Great going!! You know who you are. And guess what - so does Digidesign!!!

A bit of intelligence please guys.

Default Re: Picture this...

One reason for keeping new products under wraps is to prevent the competition from trying to steal your thunder.

One year at the NAB convention (1982), Ampex showed the first video digital effects device that could rotate a picture. No one else could do it... that day. The next day, Quantel also showed rotation, although only one revolution at a time.
If Quantel had five days advance notice about rotation, they would have been ready for the demo the moment the show opened and could have made their rotation better.
