KT266A & Athlon XP
Why does it take Digidesign so long to approve chips and chipsets. I don't want to buy a KT133A board now that all the new stuff is coming out.

Re: KT266A & Athlon XP
I'm using the SOYO Dragon mobo (VIA KT266) with a 1.4Ghz Athlon and it's working spectacularly. The KT266A has a better memory controler in it, so I'd assume it'd be even faster. The Athlon XP is just a new manufacturing process and faster core speed for the chip, which also wouldn't seem to introduce any problems. (note that Athlon XP 1800+ is NOT a 1.8Ghz chip, but rather 1.553Ghz - they started naming them this way because that's the speed that an equivalent Pentium 4 is...)

Re: KT266A & Athlon XP
LTEtabs, you mentioned you are using the Soyo Dragon motherboard with the VIA KT266 chipset and that it is working "spectacularly". Sure would be nice to know just how spectacular your board is with the 1.4 ghz Athlon. Why don't your run the Davec torture test and post your results on the "PT Performance" thread. More posts with the KT266 chipset are needed!
