Default Pro tools express crashing following upgrade to windows 2010

Hi everyone,

I have been running pro tools express and mbox on windows 2009 for quite a while without any issues. One day windows forced me to upgrade to windows 2010 and now pro tools keeps crashing and I can't really use it at all

Is anyone aware if there is any extra update I need to download to make it work properly again?

I have tried calling avid customer service but have spent about 2 hours waiting on the phone today without managing to get through, so have given up.

Can anyone help?

thanks a lot

Not sure about your terminology. There is no such thing as Windows 2010 or Windows 2009. Windows 7 or 8 was perchance updated to Windows 10? In any event, Win 10 is not supported. In hindsight, turn OFF automatic updates.
Which version of PT Express are you running?
Is there a previous drive image that will let you roll back to your previous OS?

Hi sw rec,

thanks a lot for replying. Sorry, yes, I meant windows 10. That's bad news that it's not supported. I will look into whether or not I can get it roll back.
It just says pro tools express. I can't find anything that says it's a specific version of express.
Looks like I might lose my stuff if I can't roll back ...

Save all song files (your stuff), to an external drive. You should probably be recording to another drive than your 'C' drive anyway! Or backup 'your stuff' to a cd, dvd, or thumb drive until you get things working. (Another thing you should do with all files on a regular basis)!!! Mike

The roll back worked so I didn't lose anything
You are right, I should back things up.
