Default still 256 voices HDX 1, PT11

I know why AVID will still do this, but a voice count limitation seems quite outdated especially because WAVES (under 10) kills voices on AUXes,
so that i finally have to switch to "NATIVE mode" for Mixes I did in HD4 tdm,
and I have the cards sent back for the upgrade....
its not funny anymore!

11: not possible, cause still no Waves AAX (yes, there are others...)

Get rid of waves.
There are way better options out there.

i don't know this version,
but there is no reason why there should be a 256 voice limit....
except the wish to sell more HDX cards

Except I don't think it used HD cards, even though it was the HD version of Pro Tools. It basically made it native. It took some features from HD (such as Timecode, VCAs etc.) that weren't in PT 8 LE and combined them with MP which is how I assume they got it to work on any hardware.

Immaterial - the point is that the SOFTWARE is capable of more.

Ah, yes - thought it was just HDX and HD Accel that had voice limitations, forgot they were also arbitrarily added to PT HD Native.

The reason is most likely because they want to sell HDX cards to people who need more than 256 voices. I am not saying it is a good reason. It is the one reason on the surface that would explain the situation.
