Default 003r support? is there a working driver for win7 64?

I know avid doesn't like to support its products, especially if it is more than 6 months old. And I know 10 is the last support that it gets, but I haven't seen any progress on the drivers since 8. the last update was 10 months ago, and didn't do a dang thing. I just want to be able to use the 003 the way it was advertised. I would like to be able to record with it, without major clock and latency issues. I would like to see a working ASIO driver that works with something besides protools. I know this is a lost cause and I'm going to asked for Sandra reports. but it's not my system. I have the some problems everyone else has for a win7 003r system. Is the 003 even compatible with win7? Avid claims it is, but I haven't seen it.

Why would I spend money on a new avid interface if they never supported their own? This is a last ditched effort before I buy a RME interface and go office space on my 003r. please avid get your sh#t together.

I'm confused. I have been using both 003 and 003r on Windows 7 64 bit, with PT9 for a solid year without issue. Using the latest 003 driver from Avid is only half the battle. The other half is an approved firewire controller in the computer(usually a TI chip) and selecting the proper FW driver in Windows Device Manager. Avid keeps recommending the Legacy driver, but that never has worked here(turns the 003 into a midi note button machine). Using the TI Compliant driver has been dandy for me

1. Do each and every one of the Avid suggested system optimizations. Each and every one. You may have missed one or more of them:

http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/self...p?DocId=367983

2. Make sure each and every one of your plugs are the latest versions. You may have missed one or more of them:

http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/self...p?DocId=343311

3. Do each and every thing suggested here, too. You may have missed one or more of them:

http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=300050

4. When you do solve the issue, take an Acronis image. Take another Acronis Image every time you make a change to your C drive, like installing something or tweaking something:

http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing...cts/trueimage/

While this all may seem like a lot of fussing around, the good news is that you will eventually fix your rig and be good to go.

Hope this helps !!!

All of what Albee said is true for me also. The only issue I experienced in getting the 003R to work properly (PT9 on Win7) was the Firewire driver as Albee explained. To fix it I went to Device manager>IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers>double clicked first controller>Driver Tab>Update Driver>Search automatically then did the same for the next controller. You should end up with 'Texas Instruments 1394 OHCI Complient Host Controller'.

Yep, so no use flogging a dead horse.

I'm a little pi$$ed that it looks like 10 will be the last version to support the 003 as I was hoping for a 64Bit platform without having to upgrade my interface. But to be fair, we have had ample warning that this is where they are going so I am now over my chagrin and am saving to move into the future, hence my decision to forgo the 10 upgrade.

Most other interfaces work fine on both 32 and 64bit platforms. It's part of Avid's planned obsolescence. They could simply write proper ASIO drivers but that would prevent you from upgrading. Any other existing interface will work with PT 11 so long as it supports ASIO.

Yes and when the time comes, I won't necessarily be buying another Interface from Avid. I'll definitely be taking a good look at all my options.
