Default Setting up for Surround

Can anyone enlighten me as to what hardware is needed to outfit a ProControl for mixing in surrounds, particularly for film mixing. Dolby SR surround, 5.1, etc. Besides the necessary speakers, what is needed?

Anyone using an audio switcher for repatching the 888's?

Hi Agus,
As far as the film dubbing is concerned, there's 2 plug-ins mentioned above that will cover your bases. For doing a Dolby Lt-Rt (Dolby stereo, LCRS matrix-encoded onto two optical tracks on the print, video, etc) the Surround Tools Plug-in is the only game in town, duplicating the function of the SEU-4 and the SDU-4 for about 1/6 the $. Cool. For real panning, though, Smart Pan Pro is really the way to go, and now it supports seperate stems as well. Good luck!

Thanks JKD..

We are talking about the Dolby encoded, matrixed mix. Is there a cool audio switcher out there that makes the conversion of the 888's easier?

Hi Agus
Sorry for the slow response....what do you mean by "conversion of the 888's"?

Well, don't you have to repatch the outputs of your 888's when you need to do a straight stereo only mix?

for example, our 5+6 outputs feed our video source. I could set up more patchbays, but there has to be a cooler way.
