Preferred Plug-in for warming up electric guitar
Electric Guitar was recorded without an amp, but with various effects, including distortion - what's the best plug-in for this scenario to make it sound more like it was played through an amp?

The best I've seen so far is Overloud TH3, you can get a free version with three amps (Fender, Marshall & MesaBoogie) and 3 cabinets here http://www.timespace.com/product/FRE...wnload%29.html
The full version includes a vast collection of amps, cabs and effects. Here's an example https://youtu.be/6VuwlfG98xY

Avid Eleven MK2 is a super nice sounding plugin and IMHO a bit overlooked. Great price aswell IMHO
Softube also has several fabulously great sounding plugins.

IK Multimedia's Amplitube has an amazing range of amp sims. Fenders are great.

Scuffham is the best sounding out of all the amp sims IMHO.
Helix Native is quite good too, but far more expensive.

To the op: Are you looking for warmth from an effect or an amp? Is there a certain amp sound you're looking for? A lot of amp models that do overdrive can be fizzy sounding on the top end. |
