Re: PT 12.8 is now up
So far no disaster, got a 6104 or 6101 but I think Im on 32 buffer so no big deal.
Seem that they changed the click zones of the regions, you have to aim at the clips top or bottom, or you get the fade tool, think I can get used to it, but if it wasn't intended, theres a first bug right there . :) Biggest problem for me is the fades changing when selecting and moving large chunks on many tracks. I have to temp group a lot of clips just to lock the clips and fades in place.. really disaster behavior for a Pro application.. |

Re: PT 12.8 is now up
12.8, just released, seems to support the upcoming MacOS 10.12.6 which is at beta 4 as of writing this.
You don't see this everyday. Wonder if it's a typo or if this is a sign of Avid getting more aggressive when it comes to supporting current OS versions? (12.7.1 only supporting up to MacOS 10.12.2, rather old as of writing this, is a bit unfortunate.) http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...ibility-Chart/

Re: PT 12.8 is now up
No mention of 9173 error fix. Has anyone who got these frequently tested 12.8?

You can change how to trigger the fade tool part of using the Smart Tool in Setup > Preferences > Editing > Fades.. In that section look for "Smart Tool Fade Adjustment" and set it to "Requires Command Key" (Or "Requires Control Key" for windows) If you're not referring to trying to grab and move clips near the fade area and accidentally using the fade adjustment tool, i've misunderstood and may need you to explain what's going on again. |

Re: PT 12.8 is now up
Still nothing to entice me to upgrade from 11HD to 12HD which in in one way is good news; I'm now at a point where re-entry fee is same as what I've saved by not upgrading to date.
Last time I opened my wallet .....moths flew out of it so if you want my money Avid, how about some real enticement for HD users (or just have one version/same price for PT).

Re: PT 12.8 is now up
Nothing is changed here.
Many AAE-6101 errors. System lockup with no message, this requires a computer reboot. <---- My main issue. This is all the same thing I have been experiencing since ProTools 11. System Usage at 11% Memory usage at 30% H/W Buffer 512 10 track session with MIDI and audio. Only Avid and Air plugins. Offline bounce works well, the above 2 min session takes about 15 seconds to bounce. I can do tests with 32 synths and everything works fine and, like today, I can work for 3 hours with no problems (H/W Buffer at 1024), but then suddenly while tweeking a synth everything falls apart with constant crashes. Re: PT 12.8 is now up
8 GB of Ram is not enough. Also - the install probably changed your buffer to 256.

Re: PT 12.8 is now up
I'm just trying to figure why my Midi tracks, East West, starting playing out of tune with each other, 2 instances & different patches, after 15 minutes and the AIR Plugins don't work at all now. I smell a "Roll Back" comin.

Re: PT 12.8 is now up
@strangeloop
I'm on Mac Pro 4.1 too. 8core 2.93ghz. Trust me.. Yosemite are the highest you wanna go on Cheese Graters. I run tons of tons of VI's. Just tried for fun to ask for trouble. Did a session with Keyscape, Trillian, Omnisphere, Serum, Arturia CS80V3 x2, SEM, Jupiter8 x2, couple of Kontakt. Stable CPU without spikes. I have only 16gigs of ram that I maxed out on this session. No 9173, 6101. Buffer 128. 44.1k. |
