What's priceless is the 15 post dude telling the 4 post dude that Pro Tools doesn't work. Experience in action.
And, of course, the multi thousand post guy who says "Really? It works all day long for me. Please post a SANDRA report so we can have a look at the specifics of your computer" gets ignored.

I'll post the sandra report little bit later, my studio computer doesn't access internet. But I found a workaround that is a bit annoying but works well. Run PT 8.0.3 install 8.0.4 drivers for Cubase for mixing and composing. then uninstall the 8.04 drivers and install just the pt 9 drivers (not the update, just the audio drivers) and track in protools for direct monitoring. then uninstall the 9 drivers and install the 8.0.4 drivers. I do this thru the windows programs and features. I walso reboot when switching. It seems pretty good, no blue screens or issues, except for the asio in 9, and no direct monitoring in 8.

Hi DSIM and zedhead so nice to meet you!

I did run my SiSandra in another post and had no response. Since this is more or less Dwells' post I didn't want to repeat it here, and I was dinged by one of the house nannies for cross posting, I didn't want to ruffle feathers so you will find it here.

I hope someone can find something in this report and explain why this doesn't work.

Just to amuse myself and to waste more of my breathing time here on Earth, I installed Pro Tools and the MBox on an XP laptop we have here and the same exact problem resulted -- "Hardware Not Connected" in the MBox Mini control panel.

Hey zedhead, you think I'm a whiner? I am here for one reason, and that is to get this hardware fixed. If you don't want to help, do us both a favor and stay out of my way.

=====

i fail to see a connection between postcount and experience.
it's been noted and even acknowledged by digitechsupport in numerous threads that asio is indeed screwed from 8.0.4 drivers (incl 8.0.5) and that they're "on it"
til they have it fixed, only workaround is to use 8.0.4 betas with no direct monitoring or to use different audio device for asio.

I don't get the connection about post counts at all. Or care. Can we fix the software/hardware problem? Dwells and I posted our precious SiSandra reports for all to see. Please expose the failure of my machine so I can slink away and stop bothering those of you who have Pro Tools working oh so efficiently.

To conclude our fun interaction and to bring this story to a close, and perhaps as a help to anyone else with the same problems ...

My MBox 3 Mini never did work, not for want to trying and providing unread, or at least unresponded-to Sandra reports (who is this Sandra anyway? Is she good looking?)

I finally had to return my inexplicable MBox 3 Mini back yesterday, she being mute as a stone, as impenetrable and as silent, sacrificing her to the Gods of UPS, and to mix metaphors like a vanilla-fudge swirl, to avoid being a little Nixon fighting an unwinnable war.

Today the muse must have struck, because I walked into the local music store and purchased a Presonus FireStudio Mobile (with the encouragement of an informed sales guy) ... came home, cleared my desk, and had it up and running (running being, the device being recognized, and recording and monitoring my guitar with current Windows 7 drivers) in 45 minutes. That included installing legacy firewire drivers first and some other trivia.

Lesson being, if you can't skin a cat, skin a dog. Story over, good night and be well.
