Default Thinking of upgrading to Windows 11

Evening folks..So yeah, as the title says, I'm considering going to windows 11..
My system is a i9 gigabyte aorus with 64 gb ram..
Pro tools seems to be fine, but are all plugins etc good to go on it by now?..Is there a performance benefit?..
Are reason/sibelius OK too?..
Can it be debloated?..
Thanks

Default Re: Thinking of upgrading to Windows 11

Anything that works on Windows 10 is very likely to also work on Win 11(Microsoft is not like Apple and they at least try to maintain backward compatibility). Having said that, I'll give the same advice I give regarding ANY update(whether its the OS, Pro Tools or any other software); Have a backup plan!!!!

Mine is a 2-tier strategy:
1-save a drive image BEFORE any update, and every few months(minimum).
2-I rotate 3 SSD drives; 1 is my current working C:, 2 is a previous C: drive with an older(2018.12) PT install and 3 is a clone of drive 1(If I have an update to install, I clone over drive 3 and install it, then do the update to that drive. If things go sour, I swap the previous drive back in. If things go well, after a few weeks, I will clone the newer config over the previous).

some drive imaging/cloning options:
Macrium Reflect(free)
Backupper(free)
Backupper Pro(paid but has some good extra features)
Acronis True Image(paid. was my favorite, but they got too bloated)

As for de-bloating win 11, that should be much as Win10, but I recommend doing a completely fresh install(OS, Pro Tools, and everything else). It may seem like a lot of extra work, but shoving a new OS on top of an old OS is likely to be a bad idea
