Headphone Distribution
What are you guys using for headphone distribution with the 001? I have not really needed more than 2 sets of cans at a time yet. However, I will soon be recording a 6 piece band need to headphone them, probably no more than 4 at a time though. Currently I use the headphone jack on the 001 and a headphone jack on my Event EzBus when I need 2 sets of cans at a time. What are your solutions for using up to 6 at a time?
Thanks, Bryan |

Re: Headphone Distribution
I was just looking at the Behringer, but I was told to stay away from it because it generated a tremendous amount of heat and could actually damage your gear and/or studio.

Re: Headphone Distribution
I use the little Rolls 4 ch unit. Works fine, takes up little space.

Re: Headphone Distribution
Got my behringer racked with my FMR's and Tascam burner. I've never noticed any excessive heat.
FWIW, I think everything else they make is total crap. |

Re: Headphone Distribution
I use the Samson S-Phone. Great bit of kit. Cheap, flexible, well built and good sound with Sony 7506 cans. You won't be sorry.

Rane HC-6. Extremely powerful, extremely low noise.

Re: Headphone Distribution
THe rolls distorts VERY easily. Stay away from it if ever want to cut anything loud like drums. THey will eventually damage nice headphones.
I use a Rolls for remote type stuff, and regret it everytime. The samson is well worth the cash samson q5 A DAT player also makes a good extra headphone output if its in the main mix. |

Re: Headphone Distribution
Furman HDS-6. $99 for the head unit and about $75 per satellite. This thing sounds great, and allows each box to mix 4 mono channels and one stereo mix.
My clients love it, and it takes all the headaches away from trying to get the "right" headphone mix. If you feed it the right levels, there is no distortion and plenty of gain on the cans (in fact I usually have to have them turn it down to prevent bleed). encephalon Lush Music |
