Default "Could Not Allocate Space For Recording"

All,

Has anyone has this pop up, and what causes it? I had started a new session, tried to record and I got that message. Not having much time to troubleshoot, I just started a new project and everything worked as expected...

Just curious what caused that?

Thanks,

Mark

I'm just bumping this as I still can't figure it out?

Digi, any ideas?

Thanks!

If it's not a problem anymore, I wouldn't worry about it.

Just a quick question but, are you low on HD space? (had to ask.)

Hey, we had this happen on Saturday also. Very strange. Created a new session and we were ok but it had our heads down for a while. Our drives have loads of space available. 'Could not allocate space for recording' -- what's this all about?
Cheers.

Well, I try and learn a bit more each day, and since I have never seen this exact issue, I think it's worth investigating....

Also, the drive had PLENTY of room....

So, let's see what answers we can get...

Thanks all,

Mark

What types of drives are you using? Did you try it with a different drive? Did you get the same result? Is this happening in only one session or all sessions? What's your Open Ended Record Allocation set to - all available space or limited to a number of minutes?

It may have been a corrupted session or a glitch of some sort. Having open ended record allocation set to all available space can sometimes cause this as well.

Digi -

Thanks for the reply. I'm using drives that have worked for sometime with no issues, and it only happened so far in one session.

I do have it set to open ended recording, so maybe that's it...

Thanks,

Mark

One possible reason for this is that the Audio Files folder may be inadvertently set to "Read Only." Select the folder, then type Apple I to bring up Info. Click on the padlock at the bottom, enter your OS password, then change the drive to "Read and Write."

How much free space do you have on your recording drive? Can you post your full system details:http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=336556
