Default Mackie HR824 Translation Tips

i've been using the HR824's for a couple years and, while mostly happy have some recurring insecurities about certain areas of translation. first, is the low low end. second, certain midrange areas, mainly OD GTR's. i know that room acoustics, etc. are also factors, so i guess its general tips i'm interested in. what sorts of things are you devote mackoids doing to help insure better translation to the outside world? ie. what you pay special attention to, and how you compensate with such perspectives.

Clean out 200-300 Hz of the mix-- the mackies are very transparent and clean, and most cheap stereo systems get very muddy if you go by the mackie sound.

Also, don't fill up your mix with extra layering and instrumentation too much-- again, the mackies sound very transparent (i.e you can really hear every instrument) that I find your mix won't translate well.

And boost the bass. The mackies have a very flat response down to 37 Hz, and many cheap systems crap out around 80 Hz. If you concentrate much below 80 Hz, you're gonna be missing serious kick and bass in your car.

Just some rough ideas. My advice is to always check it on other systems and keep an auratone mono speaker around for comparison.

just my o.5 cent : i totally agree with uno1234: i have to check all the mix-long on a small system really everything i do on my mackies, as you can hear the details very clearly through them (frequencies and spatial differences in your mix)...but i think that we have to do that with a lot of other speakers...don't we ?

(i really need to learn english !)
