Default Question of softsamplers

With all the lamenting for SSc (and Kontakt) can anyone tell me what's wrong with the sampler in logic5/6 if you're using ESB? Wouldn't that fill the gap rather than put all the eggs in the (untested) MOTU basket?

I ask only because I can see my recent kontakt purchase being somewhat wasted if OSX becomes necessary.
TIA
