Default Automation in PT free

I'm running PTF on an ibook. . All is good, but there are two things.
1/ There is no TC option in the transport or at the top of the edit window, only bars/beats, samples or mins & sec's.
2/ The automation fields are all greyed out.

There are no external midi devices attached, but OMS is configured.

I use an HD rig at work & am quite at home with PT, but this is vexing?

Any ideas ?

1; PTF & PTLE don't support TC.

2: Maybe something in preferences?

Hmm. ..

Ok.
Yep. . I sussed the 'no tc' vibe. . .

But, the automation issue is still unsolv-ed. . . (that was French).

I think that, as there is no sync source available in the "session set up" window, and there is no tc available in PTF. . That there is no automation. . As what is the automation data written to . . ?
Does your version of PTF run automation ok ?

If this is the case. . .I'd like it to be known that . . "Why, oh why, is this not detailed in the
features & limitations in PTF document. . . After all. .I have v little time for pfafing around, as I am sure we all don't !

Love.Peace.

I run automation in PTF for volume, pan, and mute, and from the D-Verb, Compressor, and EQ plugins.

What automation fields are greyed out?

I write automation all the time on everything from volume to panning to plug-in paramaters.

You can do it by riding the controls in the mix window (by setting the enable button to write) or draw it in the edit window with the pencil tool (make sure you select the proper paramater from the menu button). I usually ride the controls in mix, then go to edit and clean it up with the grabber. I don't like to watch the screen when I mix.

The automation boxes in the edit page & the mixer page are greyed out.

I tried running with just OS base + digi & oms extensions. . . No result. . .

Check this...

(menu) Windows>Automation Enable.

Make sure you haven't enabled the "Auto Suspend" button in this dialog, & that you DON'T have ALL types of automation disabled in the "auto-arm" section.

Oh Yes. . Yep. . . That'll be that then. .

Thankyou Sonic Wrangler. . .

It's always so obvious after the fact.

Peace in binary!
