I know it's a tragedy - could have been a great option now it looks like a office machine.

Performed like a great one (how about that) but now it's relegated to the dire and mire of emails and eBay clicks

I didn't think they sold it with Mac OSX installed and supported, do they?

My take was you were on your own in that regard.

Of course they probably can't legally, but isn't that what make a Hackintosh a Hackintosh? OSX installed on a PC.

Give me that, make it updatable, clone-able, have it behave EXACTLY like a Mac.... you got my money.

In other words, reverse engineer an "old" MacPro, but with 8 Ram slots, DDR4, PCIE 4, lots of it, the list of advantages of a Hackintosh against a new MacPro goes on forever.

A friend of mine with a ProToolsPC recently had a panic that he'd fried his motherboard. He was mightily reassured that he could quickly and cheaply swap it out, and not have to return to manufacturer.

We have a Hack here that we set up as an experiment, running HDN.
PT 10.
It could not perform better.
It is now the main machine.
We put it in a machine room so the Mac heads won't be insulted. (As long as you tell them it's a really expensive Mac pro in the other room, they are happy.)
Having some annoying problems on HDX on a new MP.

Right now, knowing what I know, after the Mini slap, I would absolutely go the Hack route if I were setting up a new work machine.

We are researching the latest TBolt motherboards right now from Gigabyte.
There is a little bit of Tbolt wackyness on the current hack, but we really don't use Tbolt for anything but a firewire 800 adaptor.

Take it from a long time Mac user,
Hacks are worth looking into.
