I would definitely speak to Tech Support at SC they are awesome. If you use the stand alone you will need another interface..but again speak with them. If you're a certified user it shouldn't be a problem.

I have no idea, but after more tests, I have glitch issues with pro-tool 9 and the Nehalem too. I even bought the recommended Tascam US-144MK11 to fix the problem by replacing the optical mac input and output for the Tascam Spdif.

I Installed the latest Tascam driver which is suppose to be "snow leopard" compatible but the SPDIF input and output don't seem to work both at the same time. I agree that Source-Elements support is great but the Nehalem seems to be the problem...If you still use OSX 10.5.8 than the Tascam could be a solution but not with OSX 10.6.6.

MusoPro is wright, you should talk to Tech support at Source-elements. They
might be able to help you. In the meantime I will try to find some spare time to fix my PT 9 and 10.6.6 problem...

Mikerophonics, I completely forgot about this. Can you confirm that it does work well with restore and replace? If it does, I will buy it tomorrow.

Thank you!

That's good news Mikerophonics. The bad news is it seems hard to find in Montreal. I called 4 Music stores today and 2 of them stop selling Behringer. I have one more store to call tomorrow before I start shopping the internet.

The best setup for SCP and PTHD is as follows:
Pro Tools 7-9HD running on a mac pro osx 10.5/6

Hardware setup:
1- Optical out of the mac into an maudio C02.
http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/CO2.html
2- spdif/coax out of the maudio co2 in to a 75ohm to 110ohm balancing transformer.
http://www.markertek.com/Audio-Equip...hing-Transform er/Connectronics/AESEBU1.xhtml
3- AES out of the balancing transformer into one of the main 8 AES inputs on the 192.

4-Optical out of the 192 chassi (right side near the power plug) directly into the mac optical input.

software setup pt1:
1- Protools clocks to the internal or sync clock.
2- The mac should probably have an aggregated device made in out of the mac optical input and output.
3- The mac should lock to the signal it receives from its optical input and it should resample its optical output. (all setup in the applications/utilities/audio midi setup.

ProTools /Source-Connect software setup pt2:
1- Source-Connect sends its audio to and gets its audio from the mac's optical ports.
2- Protools should have it's 192 hardware setup with the chassi in optical spdif mode.
3- Setup a Source-Connect receive in the I/O setup from the corresponding AES input.
4- Setup a Source-Connect send in I/O setup from the 192 optical enc out.
5- In the session mixer don't send the Source-Connect receive to its send (setup a mix minus).
6- Also in the Pro Tools mixer create a mono audio track and put in the insert the rtas instrument serwire.

this should get around all the clocking issues. i don;t know why this works but send out one port (optical enc) on the 192 and receiving an another (AES) seems to work. its some strange issue between protools hardware and the newer macs.

Arrow Re: Source-connect + Nehalem and PT 9 user feedbacks

We have used the plug-in with PT 9 HD on Nehalem Macs. It works as well as any other version of the plug-in on PT HD. The biggest problem is the RTAS bug, especially with RTS. I instruct the mixers working these sessions to do a quick start/stop/start and that usually fixes that problem.

If we don't have to use RTS, we run the plug-in or standalone on an iMac with a ProFire Lightbridge connected to a Rosetta 200 for I/O. That works as long as the person we are connecting with doesn't have any firewall problems.
