Probably because we don't tolerate buggy and unstable software when we work with clients. Yes, there will still be a number of bugs that have not been found or fixed, but generally Protools releases are of very good quality and that unfortunately takes time.

But I prefer waiting for the initial release a little bit, compared to using buggy version while waiting for the fix.

Sit tight, it'll come when it's ready I have heard rumors about mid/late november so it's only a matter of few weeks.

Then Why showing it Sooooo much ahead of the release date? Of course we are going to be picky for the bugs after we paid all that money for the hardware, Software , Plugins, interfaces, expansion cards, expansion chassis.... You name it..... We all expect to get what we paid for, in complete working condition.

Software is usually announced before the release date so people can plan on buying it as soon as it hits the shelves. Take the operating system for example, it was previewed more than a year ago and many companies/individuals have planned their purchases accordingly.

Sure it would be great to have everything and to have it yesterday, but we'll just have to wait until it's released. I'm sure it pays off!

In Digi's defense, you'd be hard pressed to find a company out there that actually releases a product as soon as Digi does after it's announced. These days, announcements are made and the wait can be anywhere from 6 months to years. I don't remember many instances in the last five years where we've had to wait more than a month or two from the announcement to get our grubby little mits on new Digi products.

And remember, you should always buy a product because of what it will do TODAY, not the promise of what it MIGHT do tomorrow. Tomorrow may never come.

peace

And by the way, if they really need to change the tempo NOW, Serato Pitch n' Time exists at this very moment for this exact purpose. No need to wait for 7.4.

the responders are being way too polite, so I'll be the bad guy...

..why the *blank* does everyone get so bent out of shape about stuff like this?! Good grief man, give it a rest. Just pretend nothing was announced in advance, then act surprised when Digi releases a killer software update. Geez!!

That goes for all the "when's Digi gonna release for Leopard" whiners out there too.

Sorry, I'm extra cranky today. I just wish posts like this were replaced with something useful.

Patience. Good things come to those that wait.

Then I guess you don't use Machfive 2, Soundminer 4, or the Fostex FR2-LE.
