Wait until 7.0 or buy 6.9 now?
I'm still running 6.4 (missed the free 6.7 update by a couple weeks) and am looking to buy the 6.9 upgrade so I can eventually run Tiger with the coming update. Any idea if 7.0 will be a free upgrade? If not, should I just wait until 7.0 comes out before upgrading and wait on Tiger for awhile?

Pro-Tools 7 will most definately NOT be a free upgrade. I'd bet money on it.

I'd wait for 7.0. I'm on 6.7 (upgrading specifically for the new functionality) and I've no urge whatsoever to get anything that's new in 6.9, so why would I want to upgrade my OS to Tiger for no adequately explainable reason? I'm certainly hoping that 7.0 will have some compelling functional reasons to upgrade, in which case I'll factor the purchase of Tiger into things. Hopefully by then all the third-party plugin issues will have been ironed out and it won't hurt too much.
Upgrade now and you'll effectively be beta testing. And paying to do so. !
