Default Direct X plugs? Digi supported?

Just was wondering, does anyone know if LE 6.1 supports direct X plugins? Or I was figuring that I need the wrapper for those correct? I know VST's are non-compatible without the wrapper, but didn't see anything on the main digi website about Direct X, so I am assuming No? Thanks

You can't use DX plugins in Protools.

Thanks Bazzle, I was actually just going to post that I searched the forums and found it. lol I saw that you had issues with DX 9.0 before? Is there a wrapper for DX to RTAS or Audiosuite like the one for VST to RTAS that you're aware of? Thanks

No there is no wrapper, and my issue was a runtime error of some sort not involving plugins.

Hey Bazzle,

seeing as you know your PT stuff, I know I shouldn't mention other apps on the PT boards, but is it possible to use other apps with the PT hardware (I know digi wouldn't support this) just as a sound card to have plug capabilities? I won't name any software, but I heard somewhere you can do this? Thanks

Hi,

Yes you can, in some degree.
If you have the vst-rtas adapter you can download this for free: http://perso.wanadoo.fr/vb-audio/us/...ack/dxrack.htm

Some DX plugins work within PT.

You can use any app that supports the ASIO diver through your DIGI HW there are lots.Wavelab,Acid Vegas,Sonar etc, etc. Most 3rd party apps support ASIO.

I have never seen until now the app that ZIR posted so I will check it out.

dxrack is sketchy. Its a wrapper within the wrapper, and its buggy at best. Some things worked, other things didn't.

I couldn't get most dxi plugs to work at all, and sometimes it would lock up the machine with regular audio plugs.

Just my personal experience with it; YMMV.
