Post Can't set higher Sample Rate on 002 Rack

Hello, I have problems setting the Digi 002 Rack to a higher Samle Rate.
When i try to elevate the Sample Rate of the 002 via any software (Cubase, Reaper, Wavelab etc..) then the light of the Sample Rate i chose on the 002 lights up orange and and the 1394 (FireWire) light is blinking green on the front of the device. As soon as i leave the contol panel and click ok etc it switches back to 44.1

I use WinXP pro sp3 and the standalone Asio drivers version 7.4 and (8.0.3 doesnt work) I've also tried version 7.0 of the drivers and WinXP sp2 same problem. I dont think i have the power harness thing that is known.. because apart from the Sample Rate thing the device works perfectly.

I didn't find anything via google etc. Does anyone know what could cause this ?
I still hope im just missing something obvious Any help would be much appreciated..

Are you saying that you have 8.0.3 installed, and you also installed the 7.x standalone drivers? Typically, that can cause all kinds of problems.

And you have ONLY the 002R connected, correct? Nothing is connected to the ADAT or SPDIF inputs/outputs of the 002R?

hey spkguitar thank you for responding..
of course i dont have both versions of the drivers installed at the same time with 8.0.3 I meant the newest version of the standalone drivers currently i have only 7.4 standalone drivers installed.. and the 002 is the only device connected and the clock source is set to internal. Do you think there can be driver conflicts even after uninstalling a previous driver version ?..

Well, lots of people are having trouble with the newest version and the old beta drivers... but... that's a different story.

As long as Pro Tools and all drivers have been completely uninstalled, then there shouldn't be an issue. I would still recommend using the PTnuke utility to remove EVERYTHING first, then try to reinstall the standalone drivers.

Also, are you setting windows to use the hardware as default playback? Sometimes doing that, programs can "hold onto" the hardware mistakenly.

i have now uninstalled the drivers and used the PTnuke utility as u recommended but the problem still persists. Too bad theres no specifications for what the blinking 1394 light and the orange sample rate light mean exactly..
I also just noticed that when i try to set the sample rate to 88.2 kHz the sample rate light becomes green.. it becomes orange at every other rate except 44.1 kHz but the 1394 light is still blinking and whe i leave the control panel it switches back to 44.1 again.

If I were in your shoes, I would simply sell the 002 and buy a different piece of hardware. As well as Digidesign/Avid hardware works with PT, it has never been very good with other DAW programs(and several other companies make much better hardware for "universal" use. Check out Presonus DigiMax FS or FireStudio for 2.

+1

If you aren't going to use Pro Tools, there's no good reason to use the Digi hardware.

well why are they making standalone drivers if they wont work properly ?
But its still an odd thing that i just cant change the Sample Rate with any driver version and Software.. because this problem cant be very common as i cant find anything about it in this forum or elsewere on the net.

I would prefer to use protools instead of just buying a new interface.
Im going to install the protools le version that came with the 002 (its 6.1 or something..) now to see if i can change the sample rate then.. I'll remove the standalone drivers first of course I'll tell you later if it worked..

I have installed protools le 6.1 and updated to 6.4 and now i can alter the Sample Rate via Protools. But in other Applications like Cubase, Wavelab etc. it still switches back to 44.1kHz. Shouldnt it work in every Application now ? and is it possible to update the 6.4 version or will i have to buy version 7 or 8 ?
because 6.4 doesnt seem to be very friendly for working with midi and virtual instruments wich i mostly do.. and using VST plugins with a vst to rtas wrapper software is also only possible from le 7 upwards if i got that right !?
