what macs are compatible with an hd 2 accel pcix system? Pro tools 8?

Mac pro's with pci Slots

up till about 2008 harpertown era possibly a bit later as long as it has PCI (aka PCIx) slots

Mac Pro is PCI-express, not PCI-X.

PowerMac G5 are generally PCI-X but the last generation was PCI-express.

That was probably the most important reason why I bought one back in 2005 and it served me well until I replaced it with a 2009 MacPro4,1 (Nehalem)
