Default (HELP) Firewire card with Digi 003

Hi,

I recently purchased a used AVID Digi 003 Console to use with my PC (Win7 64, Gigabyte X79-UD3 mobo, Intel i7-3820, 16 Gb ram).

I know must get a PCIe Firewire Card but i would like any suggestions/feedback regarding the following options (trying to get a friendly budget card);

Startech PEX1394A2V 2 Port 1394a PCI Express FireWire Card - PCIe FireWire Adapter

SIIG DP FireWire 2-Port PCIe NN-E20012-S2 Two-port FireWire (1394a) PCI Express x1 card

SIIG DP FireWire PCIe NN-E20022-S1

SIIG Firewire 1-Port 1394a And 2-Port 1294b PCI Desktop Interface Card F026-00R5

Will these be fully compatible with my pc and Digi 003?

Thank you in advance for any help

The 2 details that matter(If the motherboard has no firewire) are:

1-check what slots are open on the mobo so you get a card that fits(IOW, don't buy a PCI card if you only have PCIe slots)
2-make sure the card has a TI chipset(check card specs).

If in doubt, determine what slot you have and call sweetwater and tell them you need a FW card for Pro Tools as I'm sure they carry compatible cards

****WARNING****
In case you didn't know this already, NEVER "hot-patch" the firewire cable as it can(and will) fry the 003 FW chip, the card, or both(learned the expensive way here).

Last 2 cents, which driver you use can make or break function. Avid recommends using the Legacy driver(and do try it). For me(with 003) it never worked. On my rig, using the TI Compliant driver worked dandy

Default (HELP) Firewire card with Digi 003

This worked for me with a 003r unit and Win7.

It's cheap too, $40 shipped priority US.

Siig FW PCIE card
