Default Plug In For Bass Management

Having been asked about Bass Management on previous threads, I went to NAMM yesterday and came up with a very easy way of getting Bass Management AND Surround at the same time in a cost effective package. I went to the Waves Distribution booth and saw the new TDM plug by SRS. The SRS Circle Surround TDM Pro offers 6.1 that folds into a Lt. /Rt. On the Plug In Encoder there is a switch for Bass Management. This could be a cost effective way for one to achieve Bass Management, since the whole Encoder/Decoder will be price around $800 when it is released. Also on the Decoder is a way to monitor Circle Surround,LCRS, Stereo and Mono with a click of the mouse. The Bass Management is an Encoded process so with it on your mix will be Bass Manageged so everything below 80 Hz will be sent to the Subwoofer. The plug in is in Beta right now and it should be released within 90 days. Stay tuned.

Marti-
Happy New Year!! Do you think that this could substitute for a Tascam DSM7.1? I am building a new room in my house, and am just spending way too much money on stuff, but i really need a good way to monitor LtRt. from Surrounds. Also, was this plug Mix Compatible?
Peace-

Todd

I was told by SRS that it would work on mix hardware. I should be getting one to try out after they fix some bugs that showed up in the Beta so I'll post back with results.

Waves 360 surround bundle, street price is less than the Tascam unit, does everything you need including bass management, stereo folddown, but also has surround reverb, compression, etc...

I will be using that along with the procontrol w/ editpack...

The SRS package is a little diferent than the Tascam and Waves in that it can produce a matrixed Dolby Stereo / ProLogic compatable out put and the others can't. So it's a bitt apple and oranges.

Are any of the plugins Pro Logic II (matrix with stereo surround)? They were not the last time I checked (which was about 6 months ago).

SRS can encode up to 7.1 I think, I know they do 5.1. You would have to check there web sit or talk to them to find out if it will decode over ProLogic II, though I suspect it will.

I was at a meeting yesterday with SRS (I and a few others who are on a Beta Test group). It can do a 6.1 matrixed into an Lt./Rt.. I can't speak for what is planned for the official release coming up, but many of mine and others wishes will be addressed in its release.
Stay tuned.
