Default Pro Tools switching sample rate after quit

Here's my problem: I run a HDX 2 system on OS X 10.11.5 with a 192 I/O and two HD I/Os, externally clocked.

Since the new HD driver was introduced (with 12.6 I belive) I get the following, very annoying and dangerous behavior:

When I quit Pro Tools, all three of my interfaces switch from WordClock 44.1kHz to INT 192kHz. This will put out full scale spikes on almost all audio outputs (almost damaged my speakers).

I tried trashing Pro Tools prefs, also the Audio MIDI setup prefs, but the problem is persisting.

AVID support is not helping. No answer for over a week.

Anybody else having this problem?

I assume you have your HD interfaces loop synced together and one of them is getting feed from external clock. Right? If so, have you tried to feed another interface, does it happen then as well?

Right, the 192 I/O is loop clock master, the two HD I/Os are loop slaves.

I'll try to take the 192 I/O out of the chain and make a HD I/O master, who knows.

But the strange thing is - when I open AudioMIDISetup and set the HD driver to 44.1 kHz, externally clocked before starting Pro Tools, then it will remember this after I quit Pro Tools.

But after a reboot, that setting is forgotten.

This has been reported. It is quite scary and started in PT 12.6.1 HD.

It happens on quitting from PT and the sample rate in Core Audio does not match the quit session sample rate.

If you do not need Core Audio then the solution from Avid is:

"remove the AvidAudioServer from /Applications/Avid and also the AvidAudioPlugin.driver from /Library/Audio/Plug-ins/HAL"
