Apart from the costs, are there any recommendation from Avid what kind of MacPro is "better", respectivly what makes sense?
I think I will also buy a 16-Core / 96GB / 2TBSSD. But is it the best usage/cost efficency? I am also thinking for a 24 Core. It has to work for the next 10 years...

Hello brave folks living on the edge.

Would be great to hear any feedback from you once you have your new Mac Pro 7.1 (HDX) system up and running for a few days/week. Any major/minor hiccups, software dramas, plugins not working etc?

Would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks

Forrester

I'm sure people will chime in soon enough, but still guys remember the new cheesegrater is not supported yet. Need to wait for PT2020 for full support

Hello community!
Mac Pro 7.1 / 16 Core / 32GB Ram owner here.
My machine is working like a charm since last Monday.
I’m running medium size projects now (~200 tracks, tons of plugins, No VI)

It’s dead silent, no problems whatsoever with PTHDX card and PT Ultimate 19.12.

Save money on purchasing 3rd party RAM and PCIe SSD's......

Worth a watch, if you like unboxing videos... which reminds me, Apple need 24" clearance for the rack rails, anyone tried to squeeze them into a 600mm deep rack?

No, but I cannot see a problem -- it is only 1cm over and rack back door usually has few cm extra space you can use (though probably need to remove cables when closing the door)

Yeah, mine is open at both front and back anyway. The rails are attached at both ends to support the weight so it’s more a question of how to space them at the rear. I suppose worst case option is to use a shelf or put it at the bottom of the rack.
