buffer issues Raid
Here´s my story..In september I bought myself a computer with amd 4400 x2 and two raptor disks setup as raid 0 That is stripe. everything worked beatiful from day one. Except that resently I found out that the machine is working as a single processor. After that I found out that the reason it wasn´t using the dual core is that I had gotten wrong bios by the company that set the computer together. After I had everything upgraded with the right bios and the processor recognised I´m getting worse performance and often all kinds of buffer errors.. Any suggestions on how to fix this or what i should do...

Re: buffer issues Raid
I know. I saw this and the reason I´m putting this here is the fact that protools was running like magig while it didn´t recognise the processor as a dual core but a single core.. All the time the system setup was two raptors stripe..

Re: buffer issues Raid
Another question would be when will there be a version that supports raid.. There is great performance to be sought as you mabe have effective 17-18000 rpm speed on the disk using two raptors raid 0

Re: buffer issues Raid
When setting up a system for PT, you should begin with a basic configuration proven to work. As that relates to drives, assuming all your hardware is compatible, a single system drive paired with a separate audio drive(s), no matter what your short term success suggested, would be my first recommendation.
Current harddrives are more than up to the task, and in almost all cases, drives in a standard configuration will not be the limiting factor in your system. |

Re: buffer issues Raid
Hilton Head Island.
You should consider, since you'll be starting with a fresh install, using a drive imaging program once you've got XP fully configured and authorized. Makes starting from scratch, should you need to again, a snap. (I highly recommend True Image, downloadable from newegg.com.) Good luck- |
