Yes my interface is fire wire. Saphire pro 40.
Ive only heard of the ssd's, the compatibility is the question. I can pick up 1 128 GIG for 139. or a 250 for 179.00, I don want to invest any more than 200. on this cpu. Its just not worth it at this point.
PT 8 would only run with the MBox attached, and I felt the interface was not good enough for what I was looking for so I had to ditch any use of PT to get the recordings I wanted. Would I still need said chip set now? Im still in the dark to all this, hopefully this is the right path for what I need.

The SSD drives move across to any other new system, so are not a waste on this PC, same with a PCIe card. Search DUC for FW card with TI chipset recommendations, IIRC most folks are going with one of the a SiiG cards.

Just finished completing all optimizations and re-install and no dice. Same plugin problem from the jump. When I get an email back from support on how to circumvent this problem, I'll report back here. Thank you for your help everybody.

Same problems? After you reinstalled Windows 7 and Pro Tools 10.3.3 and then did all optimizations?

Avid has no email support -- you mean you phoned them?

I did not re install windows, I don think that is the problem. I found the uninstall when I tried to install on top of itself. The options are to add additional files, repair files or uninstall all PT. I was quite shocked, but thats where it was for me. Yes I did commit to all the optimizations, some were a bit more un comforting than others but its done, thoroughly. I submitted an ACS request stating simply that it locks up and kicks out at said point. Everything remains the same as we all discussed here. Just wanted a clean start point.

I will bet money (or even beer) that you have managed to mess the system up with the installs over the top of each other, which can never then uninstall properly, and the thing to do is just reinstall Windows.

Well in the case I've never had to re install windows, I hope not, but if I had too Im not gonna freak out. Ive got a lot in this machine and 90%is backed up but since its undiscovered country, I'd much rather stay where I've seen lol. But I will take the beer, just had 1/2 of a "Jewbelation" which runs at nice 16%, or we can do Pabst. Your choice.

Ok, received a response this afternoon, already up and running. They advised a few more steps than I found in the the Read before you post section. This is what they recommended.

First make the system optimizations here:

At the minimum make sure you have performed these steps:

Set Pro Tools to run as administrator:

Something in these actions freed up the system and let it perform correctly. Oh and @Darryl Ramm u owe me a beer. lol + I picked up a 128 GIG samsung 840 yesterday, to be installed tonight. Will probably pick up another next week. I really appreciate the help, and its good to meet you. I hope to pay it forward as they say, except buyin the beer thing. lol

The strange thing is last nite I decided to up grade to 10.3.3 HD and I got exactly the same problem with the varifi AAX plug so I removed it the the same error with the next plug loading. I've done all the optimisations so it was wierd. Good job I made a back up with Acronis I just reverted back to 10.3.2
