Loud popping noise across some Matrix Outputs (Profile)
Hi,
I have contacted Avid Support but they said it would take some time to get back to me, so I'm reaching out here as well... I do have some time to figure this out, but I'd like to get it fixed sooner than later: I am working on a show file that had been initially built in 2010 for a touring show. We are in a different style venue now, and needing a different PA configuration, so I am having to make big changes the Matrix routing for the first time since the show was initially put on tour. I have made the same change in every snapshot we are using so far, and this problem has only occurred when trying to recall one specific snapshot (029). NOTE: All snapshots are recalled by LCS / Matrix-3 (LX-300) sending midi TO the local rack of the profile console. Sending program change. The change I have made is: Matrix 5 - Matrix Mixer 7 - Previously not patched. now assigned as Group 5, sending at 0db Matrix 5 - Left - Previously -8db. Now 0db Matrix 6 - Matrix Mixer 8 - Previously not patched. now assigned as Group 6, sending at 0db Matrix 6 - Right - Previously -8db. Now 0db This change has been made across all snapshots without trouble. Now, any time I recall snapshot 029, from any other snapshot, I get popping across all Matrix’s that are in use (7 and 8 are unused). Popping is not visible on any input channel, and the Peak LED appears across the Matrix, while going Red. I tried disabling the Matrix Mixer sends 7 and 8 in snapshot 029, and that got rid of the popping in Matrix 5 and 6. It stayed in Matrix 1-4. I have NOT tried recalling the snapshot directly from the surface of the console. It is always when receiving program change from LCS (Matrix 3 / LX-300). I have NOT tried storing 029 as a new snapshot and recalling that. I am heading back in now to try those. Anyone had anything similar or know which direction I could look in? I'm in Sochi, Russia right now. Thankfully we are still in tech time and finalizing set up, and I don't have soundcheck for another 2 days with the band. |

Update:
Same problem when recalling directly from the surface of the console. Problem follows after I saved snapshot to 033 and tried recalling there as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Loud popping noise across some Matrix Outputs (Profile)
what if you start a new show file within the same specs, inputs graphics plugins and processing plugin chips available. and you try to do the same update in snapshots, will these problem come back to the same snapshot numbers???
might be an corrupted show file? |

Re: Loud popping noise across some Matrix Outputs (Profile)
Maybe it's to easy, but is there a chance the snapshot you are recalling turns on phantom power on an unmuted Chanel that runs through those matrices?

Re: Loud popping noise across some Matrix Outputs (Profile)
are you changing user inputs within the matrix?
there is a known bug that causes loud pops which i know within SC48 consoles at least. Venue Software bugs video's aren't there anymore but some of the bugs are |

Re: Loud popping noise across some Matrix Outputs (Profile)
Looking like corrupt show file.
I tried all above mentioned ideas. It's not phantom power as that's coming from MON. I ended up writing over the snapshot with another scene that was similar, and using the offline editor I copied over all values, and now the popping has gone away. |
