SSC is very important to a lot of us but Digi doesn't think it is a priority. Well I started to look at other software like Kontakt, soon to be on OSX. It works well with PT and Nuendo, ooops did I mention the "N" word.
I see, in a very near future, a day where I will put PT on the side and Nuendo as my main system...

I hope I'm wrong, but the product specialist in Montreal told me that SSC was no longer in Digi's plans, or not in OSX's plans... WHAT? Did I hear correctly? While most companies are just getting in the VERY important world of software samplers, DIGI decides to drop it! Again I hope I'm wrong. Sample Cell is VERY important. Many people rely on it. Digi, put an engineer full-time on this issue, and charge more money for it if you really have to to recuperate your investment. SSC by itself might not be such a money making venture, BUT, it keeps a lot of very important clients happy using their favourite digital workstation (IE Pro Tools...). It prevents from certain users going to Logic, or buying complicated non-integrated software. System integration IS a must. Ease of use, and don't forget you VERY loyal client base, which has been using Sample Cell for years. Did DIGI actually think twice before deciding to drop SSC? Even if SSC is not the end all be all of soft samplers, it's a GREAT addition to Pro Tools, and it's another reason why Pro Tools is still the most used piece of equipment in the Digital work station world. It's because overall, it's got great features, and one of those features is SSC. Don't let it go!

Thanx for considering the opinions of you clients. Remenber, the people who buy your product...

Just to let everyone know, as the originator of this thread, I have received zero reply from anyone at Digi, either via this forum or email.

I've personally written off SSC for OS X based upon my earlier post describing my "off the record" conversation with a Digi employee at the last LA AES show.

I said earlier that the writing may be on the wall for SC and SSC but now I have reason to believe there may be a glimmer of hope that it will get a re-build once Master List is fixed and it PT ... and the bulk of the OSX issues are clear, some programmers can then address the SC and SSC .... situation (I want to say something stronger there but it starts with the letter F)

Please accept our apologies for the delay in response to this subject, but this was a difficult and debated decision and we wanted to be clear and concise in our response.

Please find our position on future SampleCell development here;

http://www.digidesign.com/compato/osx/sc

While we know that this will be frustrating and disappointing to many SampleCell users, we also want you to know that we clearly understand the need for quality integrated sampler solutions in the Pro Tools environment. Ultimately, even given the short term challenges of this decision, we felt that the fastest way to offer these solutions moving forward was by developing and supporting strategic partnerships with quality third party providers, much as we do with our plug-in programs. We feel that this approach of third party partnership will provide a wider range of supported products with faster development cycles.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

DigiCS
