Default Can I use Pro Tools HD to monitor Logic Pro???

Hello,
I've been trying to do this for years now and I'm about to cry! LOL

OK, I'm using PT 8.1.1 on an HD2 system. I'm also using Logic Pro 8.0.2 but thinking of upgrading to Logic Pro 9.

I DO NOT want to use plug ins from Logic at all! All I want to do is route the audio from different instrument tracks in logic TO seperate tracks in Pro Tools.

I currently have Logic audio going into Pro Tools with the "built in output" coming from the 1/8" stereo to 2 tracks of my Pro Tools rig. This is cool but if I want to use more Logic tracks, the audio also comes through the same Pro Tools tracks. I want them to come out on seperate tracks for obvious reasons.

What I've Learned: Sounds like I'm supposed to go into logic enable the DAE and the DTDM. I've done so and restarted logic and it brings back the error code -1133.

Am I doing something wrong or is this impossible with my system?

Oh yeah, I'm on Snow Leopard updated yesterday to 10.6.7

Thanks so much for any help with this! I'm pulling my hair out!!!

Josh

Josh

PTHD stopped supporting Logic in DAE mode at version 8.03. Check out the following link: http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/self...063&NewLang=en

Now I read that pro tools 8.0.3 and up don't work with logic's dae? Is this the reason I'm getting this error code 1133?

Now if I downgrade to Pro Tools 8.0.1 will it even work on snow leopard?

Wow, and it gets worse!

Anybody?

THANKS!

Why bother with Logic at all ?
kontakt 4 can read EXS24 instruments. Or worse you need ES2 or sculpture? Use internal virtual MIDI cables and ADAT back and fourth HD interface and a Logic interface. That is not a pro solution but works without too much trouble. After some months you will decide to get rid of your needs of the Logic AU instruments...
If you want Logic to host 3rd party Instruments . Just buy Vienna ensemble pro. Now you will have a perfect system with MIDI out from PT and audio back on seperate channels. Works on the same computer or a different one on the same network.
Pro Tools 8 and 9 has excellent MIDI features. Even better than logic... You can easily quantize MIDI note ends without hazzle. In Logic you have to enter the scary transformer window to do that simple task.

Thanks for the reply.
I really like the way logic's midi is set up though. Not a fan of pro tools midi.

Never used kontakt before. I will look into it.

I really want logic to work with pro tools, is it just impossible???

I might have to go back to pro tools 8.0.1???

Thanks!

It's pretty likely that if you want to do it that way, you'll have to downgrade to both 8.0.1 and Leopard.

Read around for a bit and looks like downgrading to Leopard is going to be a big hassle...

Can I just install pro tools 8.0.1 right over the top of 8.1.1 and it'll work for the downgrade?

I'm researching but kinda worried to do all this. Maybe I'll just go back to the way I've been doing it for years!!! LOL! Dang it!
