Default To migrate or not?

Hey all,

I recently did the 10.4.3 and PT7 upgrade on one of my HardDrives. When I saw the migrate option I thought, wow and save hours and hours of loading rmx, reason, drumcore, sample libraries etc..., well OK. Well it has been a week or so and everything runs "pretty good". Weirdnesses so far include having to boot PT7 twice every day (looses MIDI I/O connection first time), and if I leave the computer for a bit, then hit play takes like 10 seconds to get going. An occaisional unexpected quit or two but that is getting better......

SO..... I am ready to commit to this new platform and wonder is it just better to reinstall everything from scratch (on my usual system drive) or just install the OS then let it migrate the 40Gig of user stuff again to the new drive?

Any experiences on this would be helpful....

Thanks,
-Lee

That sounds like some kind of energy saving action is taking place..

have you followed all the guidelines in the "sticky" ?

As a matter of habit, I do NOT use apple migration, rather, I re-install all applications. Do clean un-installs if you have to. Wipe your drive and start over if you have to.

The few hours it takes on a new machine is nothing compared to the guaranteed stability.

I use a new machine as a chance to clean out the closet, so to speak...

You'll feel better when you're done. (and your machine is going to work as well as it possibly can)
