Customized mouse on an Intel mac?
Hi-
I just made a big jump from 6.4.1 on a G4 to 7.3.1 on a Mac Pro. The software change that affects me the most is the introduction of a contextual (right-click) menu in the edit window. In 6.4.1 I was very accustomed to having the right-click interpreted as ctrl-click. Scrubbing is an essential part of my workflow and my editing style depends on scrubbing with one hand. There is absolutely nothing in the contextual menu that I will ever use. My current workaround is to use the configuration software for my mouse (Macally IceJr) to map the right click to a ctrl-left click. But early experience suggests that the MacallyMouse app is less than reliable on Intel, or hates Pro Tools, or both. Several times a day I right-click in an edit track only to have Pro Tools vanish without a trace -- no error message, no nothin. The unexpected crashes make me look bad during recording sessions and I need to make them stop. If anyone out there is doing a similar re-mapping with better stability using a different product I would love to hear about it. thanks! --Peter |

Re: Customized mouse on an Intel mac?
I'd recommend the Expert Mouse. It's the same thing SSL put in the Duality console and it's served me well. The scroll wheel is great.
